Mid Wall Sheetrock Repair

The 220 electrical feed was moved from the left side wall to the right side by cutting the sheetrock strip out. The electrical was rerouted and the same strips that were cut out were replaced. At that point:

Phase One

  • Tape was secured to cover and seal the cut lines.
  • Taping Compound was applied over the secured tape.

Phase Two - Next Day

  • Wet sanding to using a large sanding block and a rougher rag to remove any ridges and smooth out the compound without breaching the tape.
  • Apply more compound to further level to the existing wall surface.

Notice the difference from the left and right sides.

Phase Three and Four

  • Dry sand with a large sanding pad, the same one used for wet sanding shown above. Apply to the areas that need more build using a heavyweight pink wet to white dry spackling product like DAP Dry Dex.
  • Next day sand smooth to be ready for paint.
  • Repeat this step one more time if needed.
